"This is one of my first trial figures. With it, I wanted to test reindeer antler as a material. In 1995, I was in Pinachevo, attending a scientific and cultural gathering called Keepers of the Family Hearth. There, I saw works made from walrus tusk by Egor Chechulin. That inspired me to try something similar. But in my region, such material isn't available. However, there are reindeer antlers from the Koryaks, who roam the tundra nearby with their herds. It's fascinating to work with reindeer antler, because every antler is different – even in color. So none of my pieces are ever the same, and each one is unique in its own way."
