Aleksandr Pritčin at work
Aleksandr Pritchin used simple tools for his carvings while he was still living in Kovran, on the west coast of Kamchatka, up until the 1990s. Through his figures – and the accompanying reflections featured here – the artist sensitively conveys various aspects of everyday life and the worldview of the Itelmen people. This project to create the collection was supported by the Francke Foundations in Halle/Saale.
Recorded by Erich Kasten. Kovran, 1999.
