Valentina Yoldogir tells how someone became a shaman by making a drum

“Kingit took a hunter with him into the mountains and brought him to his children. Kingit’s home was high up in the mountains. That’s where he brought the hunter. He left him with the children and flew off to hunt. In the meantime, the hunter made a drum from the hide of a wild reindeer. Eventually, he asked the children: ‘Take me back, away from the mountains!’ Then they flew back while the man continuously beat the drum, and near his home, they dropped him down. Afterward, he told his friends: ‘That’s where Kingit lives, that’s where he hunts, and that’s where I made this drum.’”
