Warrior

"In earlier times, there were warriors among the Itelmen. I’ve depicted a warrior in his comfortable, lightweight clothing and with his gear. A warrior’s defining feature was his arrows. What interests me is that arrowheads made of stone can still be found in my village today. Even right outside my house, archaeological finds have been made. In the garden, they discovered many stone flakes, and even a working site – where craftsmen once struck obsidian to make arrows and tools. My house stands in a good location, on a small rise near a stream and not far from the Kovran River. I feel a connection to that earlier time, and it's a comforting feeling to live in a place where once there was an ancient dwelling."
