Chopper in form of a knife.
The Evenki used a knife-like hatchet (utkēn) to mark trees for orientation (ilken), which was also very useful for other purposes. The utkēn could serve as a stick, an axe, and a spear. It was used to build shelters, make tent poles, fell trees in dense forests, as a spear for hunting, and to clear footpaths. To prevent injury, the utkēn was fitted with a sheath.
